Junior Data Engineer, Platform

The role

You will join projects where the right answer is often a small, well-tested improvement that makes the whole data workflow easier to trust. You will work alongside experienced engineers, take ownership of clearly scoped systems, and grow your judgment through real production work.

What you will work on

• Build and maintain ingestion and transformation workflows with guidance from senior engineers.
• Create data tests, validation checks, and useful documentation for the datasets people rely on.
• Help improve shared libraries, templates, and conventions used across data projects.
• Trace failures through logs and metrics, communicate impact, and help resolve operational issues.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, planning, and post-incident learning.
• Turn repeated manual work into small tools or automations that make the team more effective.

What we are looking for

• At least two years of experience with software or data engineering in a professional setting.
• Working knowledge of SQL and Python, including writing code that other people can understand and maintain.
• Curiosity about APIs, data modeling, cloud services, and how systems behave in production.
• Care with edge cases, naming, tests, and documentation.
• A willingness to ask questions early, receive feedback, and explain your thinking.

Helpful, but not required

• Experience with an orchestrator, warehouse, lakehouse, or cloud data service.
• Familiarity with Docker, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or a similar developer workflow.
• A personal project, contribution, or other evidence of learning outside assigned work.

• Your workflows are safe to change because they have clear tests and useful failure messages.
• You can take a scoped task from discovery to deployment and communicate progress clearly.
• You steadily build the context needed to make larger technical decisions with confidence.
