Junior Data Engineer, Infrastructure

The role

This role is for an engineer who likes understanding what happens after code leaves a laptop. You will help create the deployment paths, environments, alerts, and runbooks that let data systems run calmly and recover well when something goes wrong.

What you will work on

• Improve deployment and operational tooling for data workloads and supporting services.
• Create dashboards, alerts, health checks, and runbooks that help people understand system behavior.
• Automate repetitive environment, release, and data maintenance tasks.
• Help manage configuration, secrets, permissions, backups, and safe change procedures.
• Work with data engineers to make pipelines observable, recoverable, and easier to debug.
• Document operational knowledge and contribute to reviews of reliability and security decisions.

What we are looking for

• At least two years of experience in software, data, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
• Comfort with Linux, Git, scripting, and reading logs to find the first useful clue.
• Interest in cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, monitoring, and operational excellence.
• An understanding that reliable systems come from good defaults, careful changes, and feedback loops.
• A practical and collaborative approach to problem solving.

Helpful, but not required

• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, or a public cloud provider.
• Exposure to PostgreSQL, queues, object storage, or distributed data workloads.
• Experience writing a runbook, alert, internal tool, or other operational improvement.

• Important operational signals are visible, actionable, and connected to documented responses.
• You become a trusted partner for making data workloads safer to run and change.
